Scavenger Hunt Stop: River Valley Special Rec

The Bourbonnais Public Library partners with River Valley Special Rec to provide programming for their adult participants. Through our storytime sessions together, we’ve read Treasure Island, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and Alice in Wonderland together! River Valley Special Rec also visits the library with their Social Circle Group to play games, find books, and work on puzzles together.

River Valley Special Rec creates inclusive opportunities for people with special needs to have fun and find connection and fulfillment! Since 1988, it has served Bourbonnais, Limestone, and Kankakee Valley to promote joy, growth, and community.

At the library, we hope to empower everyone to know they belong. We strive to provide programs and initiatives that are inclusive, accessible, and welcoming so that everyone can find a place, a book, or an event for them.
